GCR Scholarships
Investing in the Next Generation
For more than 30 years, Gulf Coast Runners has proudly supported local student-athletes as they take the next step in their education. Through the GCR Scholarship Program, graduating seniors involved in Collier County running programs have the opportunity to receive financial assistance for college or trade school.
The deadline to submit an application is March 7, 2027.
MORE THAN A SCHOLARSHIP
Gulf Coast Runners believes the lessons learned through running: commitment, perseverance, discipline, and teamwork extend far beyond the finish line.
Our scholarship program recognizes graduating seniors who demonstrate a genuine passion for running, strong character, academic achievement, community involvement, and a commitment to their future.
We aren't simply looking for the fastest runner. We're looking for young people who embody the spirit of the GCR community.
HOW IT WORKS
Apply for consideration by completing the GCR Scholarship application before the posted deadline.
1. Confirm Eligibility
Applicants must have participated in at least two years of high school cross country or track, including events of 1600 meters or longer.
2. Submit Your Application
Tell us about your running experience, academic accomplishments, volunteer involvement, and future goals.
3. Application Review
The Scholarship Committee evaluates each submission using the official GCR Scholarship Rubric. Finalists may be invited to participate in an interview.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Scholarship recipients are selected based on the whole student, not simply athletic performance. The Scholarship Committee looks for applicants who demonstrate a genuine passion for running, a strong commitment to academic achievement, active involvement with Gulf Coast Runners and the local community, and a desire to make a positive impact through volunteerism and leadership. Financial need is also considered as part of the selection process, ensuring the scholarship recognizes both achievement and opportunity.
