Meeting Minutes 4-15-04
In attendance: George Dondanville, LeRoy Huenefeld, Craig Harrington, Jennifer Auray, Becky Michaels, Ed Specie, Mary Tidings, John Zack, Ron Bailey and Loretta Huenefeld.
Ongoing Programs:
Upcoming Races:
- George reports on the upcoming races – Tropicool and Pippin’s 4th of July race. Need Volunteers
Race Review:
- No report other than the 2005 Naples Half Marathon will be held on January 23rd.
Treasurers Report:
- Craig reported there is $8561.00 in the checking and $10,620 in the Youth Development fund.
Newsletter:
- Jennifer reported the next deadline is May 1st for the June letter. She encouraged members to submit articles.
Social Activities:
- Ron Bailey reported that the Big Bothers and Sisters event will be rescheduled for October. Upcoming events are the Memorial Day cook out at Cutluss Cove. More information to come in a form of a flyer to be handed out on Saturday runs.
Web Site:
- LeRoy reported that nothing was new. Still investigating race application online.
Old Business
- The issue of the Self Sustaining fund for the Youth development fund was discussed. George will speak to Steve Spar and report back his findings at the May meeting.
New Business
- A motion was made by George to nominate Ron Avola to the board, Becky Seconded the motion, Board was in favor of making him a member of the board.
- Outstanding Projects - LeRoy made mention of someone coordinating the advertising and keeping track of who pays. No one volunteered to take on the project.
- Scholarships - The board discussed the amount of money that should be given away for scholarships. Ed Specie made a motion for $3500, Loretta seconded the motion. Board was in favor of giving $3500 away in scholarships. The board carefully reviewed each application and selected six students. They are as follows: Ana Segura receives $500;Heidi Miller receives $500; DeNetra Phillips receives $500; Sean Brahn receives $500; Matthew Clemente receives $750 and Nicole Grothaus receives $750.00. Certains board members volunteered to be present at their graduations to give the scholarships to the students.
- Meetings are moved to Wednesdays. The next meeting will be on May 19th at the Rug Center.
